Founded in 1984, Donna Karan and her late husband, Stephan Weiss, established the company that would later become acquired by luxury conglomerate LVMH.

The DKNY brand is one extension of The Donna Karan Company and embodies the energy and diversity of New York City. Other extensions include Donna Karan, DKNY Home, and DKNY Jeans. Very authentic to its New York roots, the DKNY collection captures a global appeal in a simple, wearable, elegant and eclectic way.

Offering pieces that span the workplace, the weekend and the after party, DKNY has established itself as a reliable and inspiring destination for clothing, eyewear, handbags, shoes, accessories and home.
Donna Karan herself has been the driving creative force behind the label, and her spirit is reflected in both the persona of the brand as well as in the actual pieces. “That I’m a woman makes me want to nurture others, fulfill needs and solve problems. At the same time, the artist within me strives for beauty, both sensually and visually. So design is a constant challenge to balance comfort with luxe, the practical with the desirable.” Donna Karan

Marketing initiatives have most famously included the painted wall at the intersection of Broadway and Houston in New York City’s SoHo district. The sign, which has achieved nearly iconic status in New York, depicts the New York City skyline within the DKNY logo.
