Front Row at Fashion Week via Livestream
New York Fashion Week may have come and gone, but London, Milan, and Paris are still aflutter with the excitement of new, beautiful clothes straight from the runway. It seems that this season is the coming out party of livestreaming technology, as more and more brands bring a front row view to consumers around the globe. The proof that this is going to become the norm is the fact that it’s not just the usual fashion media sites, like Style.com, that are adding live video. Online retailers such as Net-A-Porter, and more importantly, the brands and designers themselves, are investing in the immediacy that livestreaming provides.

The Style Decree
On June 11, 2007 it was declared illegal to wear your pants low enough to expose your underwear in Delcambre, Louisiana. With the best of my abilities, I offer a firm pat on the back to the town of Delcambre. Although there is probably some sort of puritanical and unconstitutional agenda behind this law, I will give them the benefit of the doubt and declare it was all for the sake of fashion!

Snapshot: Lanvin for H&M
Fashion for the masses is a concept that always garners very mixed reviews. While high/low is all the rage, many express disdain when high fashion involves itself in design for the mass market. Certain marketers tear up at the thought of cheapening the brand image while others jump with excitement for the injection of youth and relevancy that will undoubtedly result from such a partnership. In looking at the Lanvin and H&M pair up, one can’t help but feel it has somehow raised the standard in how to position such collaboration from a marketing standpoint.
