For this article, I had a little assistance from Mrs. Claus. I couldn’t leave my wish list for the most important half of the planet to a man that chose his year-round outfit because it matched his favorite reindeer’s nose. Would you? Again, we could have easily made this list into the next great American novel, and most of the women out there would read it cover to cover, but for the sake of time, we did a little editing.
1. La Perla’s Greta Underwire Bra by Journelle, $223. Mrs. Claus, you saucy little minx! Honestly, I’m not sure if this should be a gift for the ladies or number six on last week’s wish list. Either way, it is a hot item, especially paired with the Greta boy short for $115. Take the time to visit this beautiful boutique; it is one of my, and more importantly, my better half’s, favorite places. The knowledgeable staff, great selection, and the shop’s amazing smell will not disappoint you. That was not a typo: the place smells so good that I had to mention it.
2. Earrings by JJ Marco. I could have mentioned a specific earring, but the truth is that they offer such a beautiful variety that it proved harder to choose a style than it was to shorten this list. I personally love their jewelry so much that from all of the thousands of jewelers in New York, I chose, with no trepidation, to sit and design my future wife’s engagement ring with Mark (the designer and co-owner) and his wonderful wife Julianne. Santa’s remedy for getting himself out of the doghouse, this Madison Avenue gem is a “can’t miss” whether one lives here or is just visiting.
3. Lambskin Boots by Chanel, price upon request. Are you in the mood to be a hero in your household? If you answered yes, then Chanel is the path of least resistance. If you answered no, then click the red “X” at the top corner of your screen.
4. Large gold crystal encrusted hinge bracelet by Alexis Bittar, $450. You do not win CFDA Accessory Designer of the Year for nothing! Famous for his Lucite pieces, his jewelry is not only a style must-have, but it won’t put a dent in your shoe budget. Hey, guys! You want to look like you know what you’re doing come Christmastime? Head over to one of Bittar’s locations and surprise the hell out of your lady.
5. Rose 31 by Le Labo, $130 for 1.7oz bottle. Le Labo is known for their bespoke fragrances, but if you cannot make it to one of their labs, then the Rose 31 is a great place to start. I am not a rose scent kind of guy, but this particular fragrance is intoxicating. Most of Le Labo’s perfumes may sound familiar, such as Vetiver, Jasmine, and Fleur D’Oranger, but the flavor of these scents are like no other. Imagine what the front-row fashionistas of a Paris Fashion Week smell like; a beautiful mix of youth and beauty, with an edgy twist.
Whether you are looking to gift or to be given gifts, ladies take notice and gentlemen take notes. I’d like to thank Mrs. Claus for her expertise and contributions to this article. In a few months, I will have the Easter Bunny help me with the 2011 spring collections, so keep your eyes open for that.
