Apple’s recent creation of a Fashion section in the iTunes store inspired us to share our five favorite fashion apps. What are yours? Please share in the comments section.
Gap
The Gap’s recently launched (well, aren’t they all) iPad app features a look and feel that should be familiar to digital fashionistas… it draws inspiration from Burberry’s Art of the Trench and Hermes’ J’Aime Mon Carré. Where it differs from its high fashion sisters is that it is focused less on street style and more on a hodge podge of content, from videos to UrbanDaddy articles, but all related to Gap products. Most importantly, when you see a pair of jeans you like, you can make a purchase directly from the app.
Gilt Groupe
One of the first to jump on the iPad bandwagon, Gilt Groupe’s iPad app may offer an experience that’s even better than its website. Devoid of complicated navigation, the app lets users peruse the latest collections and make a purchase.
Gucci
Though slow to update their app with the latest available content (I’m still seeing reference to watching their Sept. 22nd fashion show live), the Gucci iPad app offers a ton of great interactive content for fans. The Little Black Book makes note of your current location and serves up a Gucci take on what to do in your city. The Music Channel let’s you listen to Gucci-curated music selections straight from your iPad. And finally, though a little silly, if you’re in the mood for some fun, Gucci Beats let’s you play the role of DJ, mixing tunes and sharing them with your network.
Net-A-Porter
Always a source of inspiration with their editorial-style shopping (aka retorial) website, Net-A-Porter brings the experience to the iPad with a weekly digital magazine. Who needs to download (and pay for) the digital version of a fashion mag when you can get a free weekly update that lets you shop right from the pages! This is truly the future of fashion magazines, and Net-A-Porter has beat them all to the punch!
Style.com
For the style addict on the go, the Style.com app is a must, especially during fashion week. Access the latest fashion show and party pics, or watch runway videos as they get posted.
