Truly a great perspective on social and how brands need to be genuine in their pursuit of engagement with not only their customer, but their aspirational customer as well.
Although I agree that social opens up dialogue among all classes, I think there as usage of Twitter and other social tools grows, there also seems to be some segregation based on number of followers, klout scores, etc. Brands also need to realize that they must engage as much as possible with anyone who takes the time to share some insight with them, no matter how much social clout they may seem to have.
Truly a great article. Great work.

Thanks for reading + commenting! Love your point about brands and companies now have the tools to speak directly with their consumers, on a global scale. Now it's just a matter of finding the right brand voice and strategy to employ these tools.

Great post Lala. I love this quote from Amber Case and think it really nails your message; “It’s not that machines are taking over, it’s that they’re helping us be more human.”

What you talk about reminds me a lot of what Gary Vaynerchuk has to say about social media- that it enables us to go back to the good 'ole days when you'd walk in a store and they'd know your name and what you like. Just because a company has millions of customers worldwide doesn't mean they can't connect with each and every one of them--we have the tools to do it now.
